About

Bob hails from Scotland and lives in London. An engaging solo singer, he’s known also as a nifty finger-style guitarist who performs with an easy-going sense of humour. Adopting a range of open tunings on guitar, his playing and song interpretations have been described as displaying sensitivity, technique and lightness of touch.

He has made two albums (When the Moon Sits Fat on a Scudding Cloud and After the Swithering) which national folk magazines have reviewed as delightful, haunting, reflective and exquisite.

A seasoned and experienced performer, Bob has appeared at countless clubs and festivals; he has played on the albums of various others and has featured on many radio programmes. He has also hosted various guitar workshops, focusing on alternative guitar tunings and song accompaniment.

As a departure from his regular repertoire, he has also recorded, performed and toured the UK and Ireland in duo formation with Benny Gallagher (McGuinness Flint, Gallagher & Lyle). β€œEvery time I sit down and play some music with Bob - I come away feeling fully enriched", says Benny.

Bob's repertoire nowadays contains an array of both contemporary and traditional songs as well as a smattering of pipe, harp and other tunes on guitar.

From 1983 - 2021, Bob was also a founder member and co-organiser of the renowned Ram Folk Club in Surrey.
